Glock penalised, Red Bull fined

Saturday 11th July 2009

Timo Glock's home grand prix weekend went from bad to worse after the German was penalised for impeding Fernando Alonso in qualifying.

In the latter stages of Q1 a flying Alonso, on course to set the session's fastest time, came up behind Glock who was backing off the pace in order to give himself some space into the final corner.

The space, though, didn't help Glock as he still qualified down in 19th place and will in fact start the grand prix at the very back of the grid after being slapped with a three-grid slot penalty.

"That was definitely a disappointing result and it is not what I expected for my home grand prix," said the Toyota driver.

Meanwhile, Red Bull Racing were fined and reprimanded by the German stewards for creating a "potentially dangerous situation" when they released Sebastian Vettel into the path of Kazuki Nakajima.

Red Bull were given a €10,000 fine.
